Bambusa ventricosa, called the Buddha-belly bamboo is particularly characteristic because of its thickened knot. Bambusa ventricosa can be kept very well as a container plant or bonsai. In winter, the Buddha-belly bamboo tolerates temperatures down to -8 C. The maximum height of growth is 3m - 6m.
Sprinkle bamboo seeds for 24h in lukewarm water (about 30 C).
Spread some seeds on the peat pot and cover thinly with the Jiffy substrate (about 2 mm).
Then put the plastic pot in a zip-lock bag - with a pot size of 6 cm we recommend a zip-lock bag of size 120 x 170 mm. Put enough tap water in the zip-lock bag with a few drops of universal fertilizer so that a few millimeters of water remain after the substrate has been absorbed.
Location: on the windowsill or in a miniature greenhouse partially shaded, during the day the temperatures should be around 27 - 32 C, at night a bit lower at 25 - 28 C.
The germination time for bamboo seeds is between 10 and 40 days, depending on the variety.
