Satyrium erectum is a species of terrestrial orchid endemic to the southwestern and Western Cape provinces of South Africa. It is a showy and common sight in its native habitat during the winter rainfall season
- Appearance: It grows as a small-to-medium-sized herb, reaching about 30 cm tall.
- Leaves: The plant has two ovate-elliptic leaves that lie flat on the ground. These basal leaves are generally pressed close to the soil.

Flowers: It produces a dense raceme of 11 to 37 flowers.
- The flowers are typically pink, sometimes tinged with darker spots on the petals. Some sources also note white flowers.
- They are sweetly scented.
- Like other orchids in the Satyrium genus, its flowers are non-resupinate, meaning the lip is at the top of the flower. The lip has two characteristic horn-like spurs
- Habitat: Satyrium erectum thrives in the drier areas of the Cape Floristic Region, growing in sandy and clay soils on flats and slopes. It is also found in fynbos and karroid scrub habitats.
- Satyrium erectum is considered one of the easier orchids of its genus to cultivate.
- It prefers well-draining soil and can be grown in partial or full sun.
- It should be watered regularly during its growing season, with the soil allowed to dry out slightly between waterings.
