Bambusa lako, the black bamboo is one of the most beautiful black bamboo varieties without propagation urge. The straight straws of Bambusa lako look like polished, and the color looks like black chocolate, with occasional green stripes. The sprouts are edible. Bambusa lako feels especially comfortable in full sun. This bamboo is not frost hardy and can therefore be kept in our widths only as a container plant. Minimum temperature, 0 C. Maximum altitude at home, about 20 meters, as a container plant depending on our conditions 2 - 4 meters. Maximum straw diameter, 10 cm. The pictures were kindly provided by Quindembo Bamboo.
Sprinkle bamboo seeds for 24h in lukewarm water (about 30 C).
Spread some seeds on the peat pot and cover thinly with the Jiffy substrate (about 2 mm).
Then put the plastic pot in a ziplock bag - with a pot size of 6 cm we recommend a ziplock bag of size 120 x 170 mm. Put enough tap water in the ziplock bag with a few drops of universal fertilizer so that a few millimeters of water remain after the substrate has been absorbed. Then close the ziplock bag.
Location: on the windowsill or in a miniature greenhouse partially shaded, during the day the temperatures should be around 27 - 32 C, at night a bit lower at 25 - 28 C.
The germination time for bamboo seeds is between 10 and 40 days, depending on the variety.
price is for 15 seeds
