Bauhinia bowkeri, also known as the orchid tree, is a multi-branched, creeping shrub that can reach a height of 5 to 6 m. The bark is gray-brown. As with all South African Bauhinias, the leaves are clearly butterfly-like and consist of two round, almost semicircular leaves. Each flower is approx. 40 mm long with smooth, pure white wavy petals.
