Dendrocalamus giganteus
Dendrocalamus giganteus
Dendrocalamus giganteus is the largest bamboo ever. He reaches a height of 30 meters at his home location in Thailand. The stems of the giant bamboo become up to 25 cm thick. It is cultivable as a container plant because it is not hardy, and reaches a height of a few meters, depending on the size of the tub and the conditions.
Sprinkle bamboo seeds for 24h in lukewarm water (about 30 C).
For sowing, swell in water and place in a plastic pot.
Spread some seeds on the peat pot and cover thinly.
Then put the plastic pot in a zip-lock bag - with a pot size of 6 cm we recommend a zip-lock bag of size 120 x 170 mm. Put enough tap water in the zip-lock bag with a few drops of universal fertilizer so that a few millimeters of water remain after the substrate has been absorbed.
Location: on the windowsill or in a miniature greenhouse partially shaded, during the day the temperatures should be around 27 - 32 C, at night a bit lower at 25 - 28 C.
The germination time for bamboo seeds is between 10 and 40 days, depending on the variety.
price is for 10 seeds
