The sugar bush Protea. This name was because the nectar was collected in the 19th century and reduced down to form a thick syrup used for coughs and chest complaints. it has an unright habit with pale green leathery leaves. These can be white, pink or red, but the plant you will be supplied should be deep pink/red. It will be best to grow in a sheltered position in full sun. The soil will need to be free draining and acidic.
