Tritonia deusta
Tritonia deusta
Tritonia deusta has flowers or pure orange with a tiny, yellow star in the very centre (hardly noticeable unless you look for it). Most flowers have a small, deep purple-black, heart-shaped, mark on three of the petals. The anthers are small but navy blue and make a perfect contrast to the vivid orange of the flowers. This makes a real burst of colour.
Full sun is best. Like all Tritonia, the foliage is not likely to survive prolonged periods of freezing or frosting though it will take transient coldness and light frosts. Once dormant in summer the foliage is best cut (not pulled) and the plant not disturbed too much to allow it to establish.
Price is for 5 seeds
